It can
help stitchers to learn the techniques
without needing a live teacher at their side.

Best regards!

Tse Ya.

* * *Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14559414070190080790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5790425923241370525.post-51171566262790307332011-02-06T22:50:39.115-06:002011-02-06T22:50:39.115-06:00Thank you, Tse Ya,

She could then decide if the "how to" of techniques shown in it interest her
enough that she'd want to try obtaining a copy for herself thru an online auction site.

Tse Ya . :-)Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14559414070190080790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5790425923241370525.post-86413567116720559762011-01-03T21:15:26.762-06:002011-01-03T21:15:26.762-06:00Maria, thank you very much for your comment. I will continue to post what i hope are interesting items here, including Ukrainian.
The best book on the subject is "Ukrainian Embroidery Techniques" by Tania Diakiw O'Neill
printed by Mountaintop, in PA in 1984. It is bilingual in both Ukrainian and English, and has extremely good diagrams showing how to execute the stitches. It is unfortunately out of print, but perhaps you could find it. Another book, less
exhaustive but still serviceable is "Ukrainian Embroidery" by Ann Kmit and Johanna Luciow, printed by Van Nostrand Reinhold out of New York and London in 1978 originally. It has the advantage of being much more available. I believe there are several copies available online currently. Try abebooks.com or ebay.
If there is some particular region or type of embroidery you are looking for information on, let me know.Roman Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10213975677459078209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5790425923241370525.post-44447047887070441142011-01-03T21:03:47.568-06:002011-01-03T21:03:47.568-06:00Thank you John, I hope to be able to keep this up....Thank you John, I hope to be able to keep this up. I'm trying to teach myself Ukrainian embroidery at the moment and it's going very slowly... (My Ukrn dad was never very helpful with this!) If you have any tips, info or advice I would be grateful. Additionally, if you know of any workshops in the UK I could attend that would be brilliant. I would love to know more.
Maria PylypiakMariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02500349121852490062noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5790425923241370525.post-78966406935664031202011-01-02T05:31:27.259-06:002011-01-02T05:31:27.259-06:00Thanks for this very informative article.
